FACTS ABOUT ME

Sunday 29 June 2014
Photograph taken on an iPhone 5, hence why the width is a little shorter.

Hey. So it's been a little while since i've made a blog post but let me explain: School has been such a pain recently as my teachers have been bugging us about meeting deadlines and scaring us with words like "failing" and "will not pass" (Typical). Being the paranoid girl that I am, I just couldn't let go of my work. At this point, I'd have to say school (NCEA L3) is more important than (as much as I love writing for you lovely people) blogging. I promise next month will be a post festival on here, so much so that you'll get annoyed by all my Instragram/emails telling you how there's a new blog post up. Anyway, so I realised a few days ago that you don't really know me all too well and I feel like I need to strip things down to basics again and tell you a little bit more about myself - No i'm not self absorbed - I just want you all to know who's behind the screen and what I get up to. I think a lot of the times, people think Fashion/Lifestyle bloggers are some kind of beautiful goddess that leads such a great life, and in some cases they do, but there is more than what meets the eye. Take a look at a few facts about me - get to know me a little better.

1. Let's get the boring and basic stuff out of the way. I'm currently 17-years-old (Birthday on October 15) and still in High School/College, finishing off my final year as a Year 13 (Finally...). I plan on heading to the University of Auckland to study BCom majoring in Marketing or Management.

2. Because I only work part-time, that means I have limited access to the amount of money I'm allowed to spend (And I don't want to be that bitch of the family that asks for money all the time, you feel me?) so a lot of the times you see me wearing something, at least one or two things will be from the opshop, whether that's something small like a bracelet or something big like a jacket (Like the one you see above). Not everything is all glam and bought from a big fancy boutique or department store.

3. I'm such a picky Instagrammer - this means just taking so long on deciding if I want to post the photograph and in some cases, deleting and reposting. This is why you'll see that I only post once every two days or so. Sophie McLean, the model you saw from the past 2 blog posts witnessed this first-hand and it wasn't a great sight to see to be quite honest. I literally took 10 shots on my phone so that I have options and then decided the lighting wasn't good enough. I took more photos and just when I was about to give up, one turned out good enough and made the cut onto my Instagram.

4. I use coconut oil everyday on my face before I go to bed - but you need to know more than that. I use coconut oil when I'm cooking and when it's time to put coconut oil on my face, I feel like I'm being cooked - weird, I know. I take a small teaspoon amount of coconut oil on my face and rub it into my skin, now here's the thing: When you wash it off, use an oil-free and pore cleansing gentle face wash to wash it off. I do this because I don't want my pillow to be greasy.

5. I am very prone to hurting myself. I fall over, I bang my head on a daily basis.

6. To be quite honest, I don't know what my 'theme' or 'style' for this blog is, all I know is that this is a Lifestyle/Fashion Blog. I guess I just post what I like and try to stick to get into a routine (I try to ease into something new and different once in a while). I never really sussed out what this blog would be about until a few months ago - It originally started off as a Beauty blog, but then I realised I just don't have the money to review products often and I was quite limited as to what I could post. I've always read Vogue, Creme and Girlfriend magazines and knew that I had a love for fashion anyway, so I decided to centre this around Fashion & Lifestyle.

7. Blogging is something I will treasure and do forever (Hopefully my procrastination/work won't take over, but if it does, I'll try my best). I've had a tough childhood/teenage years and I feel like doing this is slowly healing my scars - I hope you love reading it as much as I love writing it.

8. I get so disgusted who chew loudly at the table, especially when no one's talking. My whole body tingles and I want to punch them in the face (I don't, of course - I would have been arrested by now if I did).

9. Back onto the subject of school again, I don't take the stereotypical Asian subjects like Maths, Sciences or English. I can't stand anything to do with those things, my brain can't handle it and my body can't handle it - my body is never ready for that. My subjects consists of: Media Studies, Photography, Sociology, Geography and Tourism.

10. I really don't know what else to share with you from the top of my mind, so if you're wanting a specific question to be answered feel free to pop me a message on Instagram (@nicrific) or my email (nicrificenquiry@gmail.com)!

If you're wondering what make-up i'm using in the photograph above, it's here (Get ready, there's a lot of MAC):
Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel
MAC Prep + Prime Primer
MAC Strobe Cream
Maybelline Dream Pure BB
MAC Lustre Drops
MAC Brow Pencil in Stud
Rimmel London Scandaleyes Eyeliner (Dark green)
Maybelline Mega Plush Mascara
MAC Mineralized Skin Finish Natural in Medium
MAC Blush (Contour) in Harmony
Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder in Dim Light

I applaude you if you even got up to this point - again, sorry for the lack of scheduling - I'll get right onto that.

Nicole x
