FFS #4

Monday 12 January 2015
Apologies - I've been meaning to post this since August last year, but it's just been sitting there at the back, forgotten, 2015 blog clean up is commencing and I feel like this is the way to go. Enjoy the ever so late post, the fourth installation of my FFS Series. This show was shown during New York Fashion Week in 2014 so I thought I'd post this in celebration of NZFW in progress. This show has got to be my favourite show by Donna Karan/DKNY. Donna Karan's show settings are always classic and simple, but I love the twist here in terms of production. I love the amount of bass there is, giving and eerie and powerful beat to the walks. Background changes to make the outfits stand out while still having a display of her outfits in the background in an abstract way. I don't watch too many fashion shows just because of how busy life has gotten, so I haven't really seen anything like it - maybe it has already been done, I wouldn't know. Take a look at the video before you read on. 16 minutes; surely you have the time to spare?

It took a while to find out 2 of the model's names above, but I think it pays off - what a satisfying feeling it is to discover names of models I'm not very familiar with. I love the first and last outfit in particular. The first look worn by Kate because there's such a fierce, samurai vibe about the whole thing while being sexy and feminine - the boots are the perfect icing on the cake. I love all these looks but the flow of Karlie's dress is wonderful when she walks - you can tell the fabric has not been held back in terms of budget, but that's just the norm for NYFW isn't it?

Take a look at my favourite in full view and you'll see what I'm talking about.

I've always caught up with New York Fashion Week, London Fashion Week or Paris Fashion Week but I really want to take my NZ fashion interest to a whole new level; there are some beautiful pieces coming out from this country lately.
